PRAIRIE DU SAC HOME REMODEL
The clients of this remodeling project wished to find room within the existing house for a small office. They also wanted to expand an existing guest bedroom and create a nicer guest entry to replace the unused door at the front of the house. The existing living room was small and seemed even smaller because of the circulation path through the room, which also limited the options for arranging furniture. In the remodel, the living room was shifted south to give it more sun and to eliminate circulation through it. The new entry was placed in between the living and dining rooms and given a prominent front porch and roof, to make it clear to guests where they should enter. The new entry foyer is generous and inviting, and its symmetry creates a feeling of repose. Added windows in the dining room create symmetry and a sense of calm in this room as well. |
