Planning to Build in 2015?  Don't Wait Too Long

2/25/2015

Given the unseasonably cold weather we've had recently, it may seem like spring will never get here.  If you're planning to build a new home or addition in 2015, however, it's certainly not too early to start planning.

It can take from four to eight weeks to design a small addition or remodel; and three to four months or more to design a new home.  It typically takes another one to two months for prospective contractors to assemble bids plus time for the owner to choose a contractor and sign an agreement.

According to the just-released U.S. Houzz Barometer Study, 2014 saw double-digit growth for residential construction and renovation, and 2015 is expected to be just as good, if not better.  I know of residential builders in my area who are already booked through the end of this year and others who have projects scheduled well into 2015.

If you're planning to build this year, you should make sure to allow plenty of time to get the process going.

Welcome to My New Website

Welcome to my new website.  I created my first website in 2006, using Apple's iWeb application, which made it easy to "drag and drop" elements to build my site.  Apple stopped supporting iWeb in 2011, and I've been thinking about changing my website ever since.

I finally decided to replace iWeb with Weebly, which is easy to use even if you don't know how to write code (which I don't).  It's been a daunting prospect to recreate an entire website, but I decided to make that my top goal this year, and I reached that goal in just over a month.

There's much more that I'd like to add to my website to make it informative for people who are contemplating building, adding on or remodeling.  So I'll hope you'll check back now and then to see what's new.

Warmest regards,
Julie
