Here is a project I worked on last spring, which has been under construction and is nearly complete. The owner’s goal was to replace an existing enclosed porch with an addition which would more than double the size of the existing kitchen and create a nicer entry. Removing the porch opened the kitchen and living room up to the south with new windows, and a skylight was added to the new roof to ensure that the kitchen would be well-lit. The new stucco facade, with its interesting gable design and welcoming front porch vastly improves the curb appeal of the home. The stucco detailing and color was worked out by the owner with her stucco contractor. The shutters flanking the existing front windows were removed and the lap siding replaced with stucco. The touches of red on the porch gable, entry door and foundation walls are just enough to add some fun to the house.
